Doinanicoro

The Doinanicoro plateau is located on the border between the municipalities of Dorgali and that of Orgosolo at about 900 meters above sea level. The 100 flat hectares of rich pastures have for years been a cause of tension between the shepherds of the two municipalities.
Heading north there is the sheepfold of Ziu Raffaele, renovated by the Dorgalese association "Cuiles", where you can camp out for the night. Close to the sheepfold but hidden and difficult to see, there is a water source called "Sa Untana e S'Arga",
The route to Doinaicoro from Dorgali side crosses the Scala di Surtana and requires about 3 hours of walking, with a difference in height of over 600 metres. We recommend contacting the hiking guides as it's very easy to get lost. However, the walk difficulty is justified by the beauty of the landscapes that you will find.
At the right times, with a little luck you'll can see moufflons, eagles and other wild species that inhabit this magical place. Heading to west, near the camp, the ruins of a Nuragic village and some Nuragic structures. In the western perimeter there is "Su Suercone" sinkhole, with a diameter of over 400 meters and a depth of about 200... but this is another of the thousand reasons... see you next time!
