Gorroppu canyon

Gorroppu is a deep canyon created over the millennia by the Rio Flumineddu and the Rio Orbis and marks the natural border between the municipal areas of Urzulei and Orgosolo. It has a total length of about 1.5 km, from the Cucutos tip (888 mt) it plunges vertically for about 500 mt and reaches a minimum width of 4-5 mt in some points. These characteristics of size and shape make Gorropu an authentic masterpiece of nature and at the same time a precious treasure chest of biodiversity.
Considered among the deepest and largest canyons in Europe, the gorge can be reached by the panoramic path that starts from the bridge of S'Abba Arva, in the countryside of Oddoene in Dorgali, or from the Ghenna 'e Silana pass at Km 183 of the S.S. 125 (heading to Baunei)..
