More than a simple natural walk
Dorgali and Cala Gonone
(SORRY - GOOGLE TRANSLATION)
The path of the 2019 edition unfolds, in a surprising variety of environmental scenarios, through "Montes and Litos", the mountainous walls covered with thick woods that characterize that part of the territory of Dorgali that stretches towards the sea. The maze of paths that runs through shady holm oaks, deep valleys, expanses of pastures and terraces, cleverly cultivated with vines and olive trees, transforms for a day on a pleasant journey through the paths of taste to discover foods with an ancient flavor.
The path of MAGNALONGA 2019 begins in the churchyard of the seventeenth-century church dedicated to Nostra Segnora de Baluvirde, from which a narrow path accompanies participants to the gentle slopes of a basaltic hill covered with vineyards and then penetrate the dense woods of Trempa 'holm oaks and Litu, the gentle slope where the first stop is fixed. The next stage leads to Monte Ruiu, a limestone balcony in front of which the extraordinary scenery of the sea opens up as if by magic. The resting place is here a historic cuile, the shelter of the goats, a splendid example of pastoral architecture of ancient tradition. The stopover at the pass of S'Atta Secà de Irghiriai offers another view of the coastal landscape, with the sea seeming closer and more accessible. However, the route turns back towards the hinterland, in the direction of pastures and cultivated valleys up to the S'Abba Frisca Museum Park, where precious finds from the ancient farming culture are kept and exhibited. The subsequent visit to the farm of Zorza allows you to discover an almost unknown settlement of the Nuraghic Age, a large village built close to the nuraghe Litu -Zorza. The volcanic hill of Sa Tupedie and the expanses of vineyards and olive trees of the Cascoza plateau accompany towards the end of the gastronomic and naturalistic journey with the return to the church of Baluvirde where the participants, besides coffee, digestive and local sweets, will find musical entertainment, folklore and a rich exhibition of handicraft products and the agri-food sector.
