100th Tour of Italy - Dorgali

On Friday, May 5 starts from Alghero the 100th Giro d'Italia. This year Sardinia returns to host the Tour, after the previous editions of 1991 and 2007. The news gave great enthusiasm to Fabio Aru, who will try to be there at all costs: the Sardinian cyclist is trying to retrieve the knee injury quickly performing hard physiotherapy sessions, motivated by the desire to run among his people.

The route will cross the municipality of Dorgali and it's divided into 3 stages: Alghero-Olbia, Olbia-Tortolì and Tortolì-Cagliari.
Below the details:

1st STAGE: Alghero - Olbia 203 km
It starts on Friday, May 5th with rises and descents that crosses the northern coast of the island; the last 20 km have a demanding rise of 5km followed by a wavy stretch still for the final run.

2nd STAGE: Olbia - Tortolì 208 km
On Saturday, May 6, the half-mountain stage takes place in the hinterland of Nuoro, with rises and descents, where the runners will cross the streets of Dorgali and then cross the footsteps of Genna 'e Silana. The remaining 50km are mostly descending and winding.

3rd STAGE: Tortolì - Cagliari 148 km
The stage of Sunday, May 7 will be mainly flat, with some climb after Villasimius. It goes on to Cagliari for the final sprint.

Due to the massive tourists presence during the Easter holidays and the importance of the Tour, the Municipality of Dorgali organizes a series of events for the period from April 25 to May 6.

Take advantage of the fantastic scenery of our territory. Take a look on the accomodations of Dorgali and Cala Gonone.

The Cala Gonone weather, mitigated by the seaproximity, is characterized by mild winters and warm dry summers.

As a result, also because of the shape of the area, it lends itself to various activities related to the sport, the main attraction that captures thousands of tourists each year, followed by crafts and local cuisine.

The characteristic wind of the area is the Mistral, which is manifested by irregular and variable winds gusts, conditioned by the gorges of the mountains in which is channeled and then reflected from the south-east.
